Tree Reduction and Shaping
If you have a tree that has outgrown its environment or is looking unbalanced, our tree reduction and shaping service can help. By reducing the overall height and size of the canopy while retraining the tree’s shape, we keep your trees in balance with their surrounding environment.
Like other plants, trees love sunlight and will often grow towards the light. This is fine if the tree is not obstructed. However, where areas of the canopy are obstructed, over time some trees can start to lean in their bid to reach the sun’s rays. In these cases, we reshape the canopy to help stabilise the tree while creating a more desirable shape.
Crown Thinning
Sometimes, we need to reduce the density of branches within the canopy of the tree to provide more light and wind flow through the tree. This service is called crown thinning and can be incorporated alongside a tree reduction.
Crown Raising
Also known as crown lifting, crown raising involves the removal of lower limbs while retaining the overall shape of the tree. This service can be carried out on the majority of trees and is usually carried out to provide access under a tree’s canopy. For example, the service may be carried out to increase clearance for people or traffic below the tree or to clear sightlines.
Tree Dismantling and Felling
Tree felling can be a complex job that requires careful planning and attention to detail. When we remove a tree, we will carry out a full risk assessment. The most important consideration is to ensure there is enough space around the tree for it to be felled safely. If we find that space is limited, we will carefully dismantle the tree, bringing it down in sections. This reduces the risk of damage to any objects or properties within close proximity.
Tree Pollarding
Tree pollarding is a technique that removes almost all of the branches from a tree to dramatically reduce the height and size of a tree and promote growth which can be maintained easier. This technique can only be carried out on certain types of trees and must be done at the right time of year. Fast-growing trees such as willow, London plane, lime, ash and elm are perfect candidates for pollarding.
Tree Preservation Orders (TPO) and Conservation Area Applications
There are some cases where trees may be protected, this could be by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or because they growing in a conservation area. Whether you have just bought a new property and inherited a TPO or you are looking for help with a tree in a conservation area, we can help. We can assist with applications for works on protected trees so that all work is carried out with permission and in accordance with legislation. We provide the initial inspection of the tree and can complete an application to the local planning authority (LPA) on your behalf. Your application will detail the work required and will be assessed in person by an LPA representative. You will then receive a decision within a timeframe set out by the LPA.
Deadwood Removal
Ideally, any deadwood on your trees should be removed as quickly as possible. Removal will reduce the likelihood of branches snapping and causing injury or damaging property. During the deadwood removal process, we remove any branches that are dead within the tree canopy and assess the overall health of the tree.
Hedge and Shrub Maintenance
Hedges can grow very fast and can soon become overgrown and untidy. Regular hedge trimming and shrub maintenance can help to keep the top and sides looking their best and stop the need for heavy reductions. We recommend arranging hedge maintenance annually.
Hedge Reductions
When hedges have become too unmanageable and unruly a hedge reduction might be the best option. Our hedge reduction services will help to keep your hedges under control and looking tidy. We can reduce your hedges back to a more manageable and desirable height or width dependent on species.
Hedge Removals and Replanting
We offer hedge removal services that remove all traces of hedges and shrubs. We can only carry out these services if there are no nesting birds present. We can also give you advice on the best type of hedges to plant in your area and provide hedge planting services.
Reduce or Remove Ivy and Other Climbing Plants
Ivy and climbing plants can grow quickly over a wide area and could potentially cause damage to trees and property. We offer reduction and removal services for these plants, removing them completely or keeping them under control.
Stump Grinding
After any trees or hedges have been removed, they can leave unsightly stumps, which can take years to decay, or weeks to dig out. We provide a stump grinding service which is fast and efficient where the stump and roots will be ground out by a machine, this leave the area clear and just the mulch remaining.
